Home Smitten is a home guide site. It answers the practical questions that come up when you live in a house and something needs sorting out: what size mirror fits a vanity, how to cover a closet without doors, why a room smells of coffee, whether a TV has Bluetooth.

How we write
We put the answer near the top and the detail after it. When we rewrite a page, we add an updated date to the top and list our sources at the bottom. Where something depends on local rules or we can't be sure, the page says so.
Safety
The guides here are general information. For electrical, gas, plumbing or structural work, hire a qualified professional.
