The quick answer
Amazon Warehouse Deals is now called Amazon Resale. "Used-Like New" is Amazon's top grade: the item works perfectly, has all its essential accessories, and only the packaging may be damaged. Resale items can be returned within 30 days for a full refund if they don't match the listed condition, except "Used-Acceptable (Final Sale)" items, which can't be returned. Whether it's worth it depends on the grade, the product, and how much you'd save.
Used-Like New can sound like new with a sticker on it. It isn't. It means someone opened the item, and the box has been through at least one trip back to Amazon. That's fine for a lot of things. It's a bad bet for anything where you'd want a warranty, or where wear is the whole risk.
This guide uses Amazon's own help pages, which we read on October 25, 2026. Amazon edits these pages, so check them before a big purchase.
What Amazon Resale Is
Amazon's help page says Amazon Resale (formerly Warehouse Deals) offers customer returns, open box, and warehouse damaged products. The categories include computers, tablets, smartphones, TVs, furniture, kitchen appliances, lawn and garden care, home improvement tools and pet supplies.
Amazon says Resale products are inspected and graded by trained Amazon associates. Each item is evaluated on four things: functionality, cosmetic damage, accessories and packaging. For electronics, Amazon says it powers on, tests and factory-resets the item.
Those items are shipped by Amazon. Not every "used" listing on Amazon is Resale, though. Third-party sellers also list used items, and those use a separate set of seller condition guidelines (more on that below).

What Each Condition Grade Means
Amazon's "Amazon Resale Product Conditions" page has a glossary. Amazon's main Resale page adds more detail. Together they say:
| Grade | What Amazon says |
|---|---|
| Used-Like New | An item in perfect working condition. Fully functions, all essential accessories are complete. Packaging may bear some damage. The main Resale page describes it as opened but barely used, looking and working like new. |
| Used-Very Good | Limited use, fully functions, may have minor cosmetic imperfections. May arrive in damaged or replaced packaging, and could be missing some nonessential accessories, which are listed in the item description. |
| Used-Good | Wear from moderate use, fully functions. May have minor cosmetic damage such as a small scratch. May be missing some valuable accessories, and may not be usable until you buy them separately. |
| Used-Acceptable | Clear signs of use but still serves its main function. Signs of use include scratches, dents and worn corners. May be missing valuable accessories, components or spare parts. |
| Used-As Is | Extensive wear or cosmetic imperfections, still serves its main function. Images show the exact condition, including packaging damage. May be missing valuable parts. |
The glossary page says descriptions are general, and each product page adds specific comments about appearance, functional qualities, accessories and packaging. Read those comments. That's where missing parts are named.
Used-Like New is not the same as Renewed
Amazon Renewed is a separate program for refurbished products. Amazon says Renewed items are tested and inspected by a qualified supplier, with grades called Premium, Excellent, Good and Acceptable. Renewed has its own guarantee, with a 90-day return period on most items and 365 days for Premium. Resale does not.

Returns and Final Sale
Amazon's Resale page says all Resale products are backed by Amazon's Returns Policy. If what arrives doesn't match the condition on the listing, you can return it within 30 days for a full refund.
The exception is the lowest grade. Amazon says products listed as "Used-Acceptable (Final Sale)" are non-returnable and non-refundable, and that this is shown on the listing before you buy. Amazon's return policy page adds that if a final sale item arrives damaged, defective or materially different from what was ordered, you should contact customer service.
The aboutamazon.com page on Resale says that because each Resale item is unique, Amazon can't replace it with one in the exact same condition, though it may have something similar in stock.
Warranty and Shipping
Amazon's Resale pages do not promise a manufacturer warranty on Resale products, and we found no statement that the original warranty carries over. Treat it as unknown and check the listing and the brand's warranty terms before you buy. A warranty is often tied to the original buyer or to the retailer.
One thing is stated outright for Amazon's own devices. Used Amazon devices sold by Amazon Resale don't receive Amazon's limited warranty but are backed by a 30 day money-back guarantee. Like-New Amazon devices in the pre-owned store do get the same limited warranty as new ones.
On shipping, Amazon's Resale page says all Resale orders include Amazon fulfilment, Prime shipping, customer service and free returns. It doesn't spell out the shipping fee for shoppers without Prime, so check the total at checkout.
Is It Worth It?
Amazon reports that customers saved over 25% on average on Resale items, and that lower grades get deeper discounts. Amazon also says it publishes a single price for each condition of the same product, so different prices for the same product mean different conditions. That's Amazon's figure, not an independent one, and your own saving will vary by item.
This part is our judgement. Used-Like New and Very Good tend to be good value on things where light wear doesn't matter: small kitchen appliances, tools, furniture, monitors and accessories. They make less sense when the missing warranty is the risk: big-ticket electronics, anything with a battery that wears, or items you'd struggle to return later. A discount that looks big on a Good or Acceptable item can disappear if you must buy a missing part.

How to Buy Well
- Read the item-specific condition notes, not just the grade. Missing accessories are listed there.
- Compare against the new price after any missing parts. If the gap is small, buy new.
- Avoid "Final Sale" unless you're sure. You can't send it back for not matching your hopes, only for not matching the listing, and then via customer service.
- Test it as soon as it arrives. The 30-day return window is only useful if you use it.
- Keep the packaging until you're happy, even if it's damaged or replaced.
- Check who the seller is. A third-party seller's "Used-Like New" follows the marketplace seller guidelines, where Amazon describes the item as in perfect working condition with the original packaging intact, and returns can go to the seller.
